Hp-ux smb windows 2003

Even better would be to not use winbind and instead use Unified Login. You almost have it! Eric Roseme. Then will it cause any issues to the samba server already integrated with in domain, they are configured before configuring "Unified Login"? Since we have already integrated samba server with domain ADS. I assume that by "integrated" you really mean that you joined the domain. Aside from that, there's really no investment in your current "joined" state.

For Unified Login, you would not have to re-join, but the entire purpose is to get rid of the winbind mappings. Anyway, it's all explained in the whitepaper. Since you mentioned home edition, none of this is domain joined and given some of the older kit, I really dont know what to advise. There are several reasons for such old equipment but the primary one is budget. While old, the configuration has worked until the introduction of this Windows 10 machine.

The shop is a small one 4 seats and the goal is to migrate to new equipment as funds become available. I frankly don't know what user name and password to provide it. The Linux box either authenticates machines or a user account that exists on both with the same username and password. It is prompting otherwise because neither machine or user match it's list of allowed - this is typical. As I responded elsewhere, the shop is small 4 seats, file server, old printer, old scanner.

The goal is to be able to share files and a printer among the users. Upgrading the workstations as funds permit is the first step in modernizing the system since some software and the printer still rely on one of the old XP workstations. So yes, cheap storage access is a goal. And also yes, it is a mess. So I am trying to upgrade the workstations first that are not relying on old software dependent on old OS.

I think my goal and this business's goals are in alignment. It seems I am close to introducing this Windows 10 machine into the configuration since I can map XP and Windows resources to it. It is the Samba server on the linux machine I am having trouble with. It is always a good idea to upgrade server side first, newer clients dont always work well with older server side infrastructure. One thought - could this be related to SMB1? SMB1, which may be running on some of those earlier systems, is just plain dangerous in a business environment.

You can go to Features, add Windows features, and put the tick in the checkbox for SMB protocol that is missing, then reboot PC and perhaps it will then work. In general, this may be technically correct but is dangerous. Letting SMB1 into your organisation is an invitation to wannacry in all too many cases.

As root, try smbpasswd on the Linux side to set smb passwords for users. The best answers are voted up and rise to the top. Stack Overflow for Teams — Collaborate and share knowledge with a private group. Create a free Team What is Teams? Learn more. Samba4 on HPUX Asked 7 years ago.

Does anyone have a recommendation for an off the shelf, secure solution? IP Networking. I have a LAN for users I only have one printer IP address that needs Hi , We are trying to share a particular directory between solaris running from VMware installed on Win7 box] and windows box.

We tried the SWAT utility of samba, and made all possible changes for sharing. We committed the changes and we were clueless what need to be done further.. High Performance Computing. I'm planning to load balance 2 web servers.

I'm considering mounting an NFS share between the 2 servers so they can share the data.
