Ahhh the good old Alde heating control panel question, difficult to explain really just read the book over and over again you will understand. You cant have hot water without the CH so just put the room temp down really low. You can get a module to turn it on via txt now!! Nov 27, 0 0. Hi Barry B, I am sure you can use the Auto function with the moon symbol next to it on the bottom row of symbols to achieve what you want.
Say you want the temp to be 21 deg during the day and effectively off for the night, then you would switch the heating to on and set the temp at 21 deg using the top row of symbols. Next go to the bottom set of symbols and move across to the auto function.
Then the left button, followed by repeated pressing of the off button until the temp is reduced to say 5 deg effectively off unless it is a very cold night. Then press Store once you have set the temp. You can then enter the start time that you want the reduced temp.
Press store again and input the stop time. We do this ourselves because we find the temperature gets too hot at night Although I can't remember if it will let you set the temp as low as 5 deg.
Can't get to our van just now to test this in practice but please give it a try and let us know if it works. Jul 28, 20 18, Not the question that you asked, but you can have the hot water without the central heating. Please explain how to Nigel? The hot water is always on when the heating is switched on,if you switch the heating off the hot water goes off,the tap icon you see on the panel is for extra hot water 30 minute burst To stop the heating running as well you turn the temp down, the hot water stays the same temp as this is non adjustable.
Sep 21, 6 18, Hi BarryB Like you the Alde heating is new to me but as I understand it you can only set the heating to come on for up to a 24hour period and then set it to do the same the following week. I also thought this could be done on a daily basis, unless I'm also missing something.
As has been suggested the way to go is to set the temperature lower for overnight. I also agree that the hot water and heating are on together but you lower the temperature to lower than outside to stop the heating kicking in. Regards Mike. May 7, 2, 19, We leave the Alde itself on then there is available hot water and the central heating can respond to the set temperature s of the room thermostat. The central heating itself is only "on" when the circulating pump s are signalled by the temperature set on the room thermostat to come on.
If the Adle is set "off" then there is neither hot water nor the ability for the CH to respond to the room thermostat. So you cant set it up to automatically go completely off during the night and unaided come on in the morning, you can however do this manually.
As others have said if you dont want CH to come on in the night set the night time temperature to a level below what the van will fall to; 5 degrees being its lowest setting. If on gas the boiler might fire once or twice in the night but not bring on the CH pump.
If on electricity you would need to be a very light sleeper to hear the boiler stat switch. These heating systems deserve a bit of time invested in understanding how to set them, and that will be very rewarding.
My mistake! I just knew that we'd not had the heating on at all over the summer, but it must have been a case of turning the thermostat down same thing really. If it is turned right down, then the heating isn't working.
Any ideas why. The fluid level doesnt seem to have dropped so where is the aircoming from? Realised that patience is required and waited for about 15 minutes before pump started and heat followed some time after. Could someone make an idiot sheet to help please? Yes I am an idiot when it comes to this complicated control system, at handover the guy said you need a quali in computer programming to operate it! Brrr, getting a bit cool now, how do I turn the heating on to override the night temperature setting?
The fancy Swift colour control panel seems lacking in some vital functions. Had our swift challenger se for 4 months now, with alde heating system.
Much better than previous caravan with blown air heating. But much slower to warm up than a cheap fan heater! I think I am in total control of the system, programming it to come on before we get home after a day out, to cool down at night and come on in the morning. I am still up and want it warmer. Will have to wait till 7. Has anyone fitted either 12v. Any help please Brian. Took a good cup of coffee and peace and quiet to sort out how to do things. Got it now thanks jan. I have been using aldi heating for 17 years.
I find it very good,it has been working for 10 years in my Vanmaster with no problem. I found the programer very complicated so I changed it for a honeywell thermostat so simple and easy to use.
I asked the Alde UK team if I could heat van not water. No damage results. Jan you have said you have worked out how to heat the van and not the water. Could you please give a few more details? Thank you. Just bought a new Bailey unicorn with the Alde heater. How can heat the van and not the water??
Worked out how to do it the other way after a few hours! Why is it so complicated! We have had a Baileys Valencia for 18 months and still find the controls far too complecated, so far we have not been able to set up the timer. Bearing in mind my OH is a Heating engineer! Have looked at the YouTube thingy but not much help!
I have alde heating system and the hot water in the shower only stayed hot for a matter of minutes any tips as to why.
Tim The only thing I could suggest for that is to check the manual. Select the relevant control panel user manuals and there are details of how to set the heating to come on automatically in there. Kind regards Craig Caravan Guard. Our Swift Kontiki fairway has an Alde it is replacement for a Primus system which failed and was fitted before I purchased the van in We have a Bessacar E purchased in March with an Alde system. It works great — when you can work out the controls, which are far too difficult and complicated.
Does anyone know where you can get a simple step by step instruction guide? The frustration at trying to get it to work properly is spoiling a great van. I have have my bessacarr cameo for 7 years..
Follow up comment after four outings over winte, Alde system is almost silent with no cold spots at all. Heat up time is slow but combined gas and electric works a treat 8. I set back the night temperature by manually dropping the setting on the top menu and then raising it again in the morning.
This can be set up to be automatic using the bottom menus but have not had any success yet. I have had Alde heating on boat and caravans. This is by far the most complicated to operate. On my last there was a simple arrangement of switches setting heat hot water or both and either 1or 2 kw or gas. The simple programmer allowed me to set required temperatures throughout each day for 1 week repeating.
Lovely and easy. With my new Lunar caravan and the , well I am in trouble. The menu is to me complicated with very poor diagrams explanations or clear instructions. Bear in mind that I learned to write with a slate and a scraper so I am an ancient Brit. Can anyone help please?
Used this system for the first time last month in our new van it is much better than a blown air system with no cold spots and no draughts. Blown hot air at floor level is better than radiated head above. No matter how sophisticated the electronic controls may be I want my feet to be warmed!
From my experience, you can select hot water, heating or both. You can also boost the hot water temperature for 30 minutes. If heating is selected at the time, the circulation pump will automatically switch off.
After 30 mins the pump restarts and normal hot water and central heating continue if that was what was selected. Please note that on my system, I have to reset the time on the control unit whenever the mains hook up has been disconnected. I have found that the heating takes a good 2 hours to become effective so I select it to come on around 4am so that it is toasty warm by the time I get up.
Is it possible to have just the water heater on,without it switching to the caravan heating after so long. Posted June 2, I can set the Alde to "External Start" but what do I do with my phone? Many thanks to anyone who has the system and an explain. If I can help any further, don't hesitate to drop me a pm. Regards, Al. Does that ring bells, Chrissy? Many thanks again Margaret. Brocher12 Posted June 2, Posted June 2, edited.
